2017-05-26: CGC Members Elect New Board of Directors
The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC)'s membership confirmed a new board of directors in its Annual General Meeting this month. The new board includes members from each member category, and represents an important expansion of the CGC. “CGC is very pleased to hit this milestone” said Pat Rudka, Chair of the 2016 Board of Directors. “As Canada's association for geothermal heat pump technology, we will continue to welcome new members in a spirit of openness and dialogue, and look forward to working with the broad range of stakeholders we have in the past.” A priority task for CGC's new board is strategic development to serve the industry.

2017-06-07: CGC Joins Energy Council of Canada
The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) this month joined the Energy Council of Canada (ECC), one of the country's premier policy dialogue groups. The move is aimed at bolstering geothermal heat pump technology's presence in energy policy discussions and at growing the industry's presence in the Canadian energy portfolio and discussions.“The Energy Council of Canada is our country's representative on the World Energy Council, and will form a central node in developing Canada's energy information and policymaker tools” said Ted Kantrowitz, CGC CEO. “CGC has long operated in a spirit of openness and dialogue, and we look forward to adding our industry's contribution to the broad and high-level energy discussions taking place” he added.

2017-09-06: Industry, Researchers Begin Shallow Geothermal Energy Mapping Initiative
The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) announced today that work has begun to create a detailed resource map of ground thermal conductivity at depths up to 200 meters (650 ft) in one of Canada's most densely populated areas. The project team at Quebec's Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is applying original algorithms to vertical geothermal borehole data reported under CGC System Certification, with support from engineering firm SNC-Lavalin and a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

The energy efficiency renovation program RénoClimat provides up to $5,365 to homeowners seeking to upgrade, save, and build value through highly efficient and renewable technologies like GeoExchange.

The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) and its members welcomed the news that New Brunswick Power has released a range of energy efficiency and renewable energy incentives including for GeoExchange(R) (a.k.a. geothermal heat pump) technology. The new program provides a range of incentives up to $5,000 to homeowners seeking to upgrade, save, and build value through highly efficient and renewable technologies like GeoExchange. “New Brunswick Power and Government of New Brunswick are showing vision and an understanding of our technology's effectiveness and its potential” said Pat Rudka, CGC Chair. “While many types of New Brunswicker can benefit directly from the improved value of GeoExchange, these new incentives help put renewable, efficient GeoExchange in the hands of lower- and middle-income New Brunswick residents, helping spread the energy benefits more widely and building economic activity.”

2018-05-03: Canadian Industry Subsidies for Coop Student Hiring Made Available
The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) is pleased to announce that member firms hiring registered students from science, technology, engineering, math, or business disciplines, can now qualify for workforce development subsidies of up to $7,000 per hire per fiscal year. Created by industry's Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC), and supported by Government of Canada, the program aims in particular to help students seeking experience in innovation and technologies critical to their province's needs, and to help strengthen industry connections to trade and community Colleges and Institutes.

2018-11-19: Canadian Industry Training Materials Enter Final Testing of Digital Formats
The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) announced today that Canada's original 385-page training manual for design and installation of ground source heat pump systems, authored by CGC with contributions from a range of national education and technology experts, is currently being tested and will be available as an electronic book in early 2019. College testing is now occurring in three provinces and both official languages.
